Who are we?
Surfing in Normandy – A story of passion, surfing and sharing
We are Ben and Elise, passionate about the Cotentin Peninsula in Normandy, a wild and beautiful region we chose to live and share our love of surfing and the ocean.
Driven by encounters, sharing, and life by the sea, we discovered the concept of surf camps and surf houses during our travels. These simple yet authentic living spaces inspired us to create our own project.

It was through these experiences and encounters that we felt compelled to bring a powerful idea to life: creating the first surf camp in Normandy.
A unique place, designed as a surf school and seaside accommodation, where people come to learn, progress, and experience a truly enriching human connection with the ocean.

Surtain Surf Camp is a warm, friendly, and welcoming place, located in the heart of the Cotentin Peninsula. Here, everything is designed to share simple moments: surfing, nature, encounters and life in rhythm with the tides.

Here, there’s no such thing as a typical day. There’s the weather, the tides, and the waves!
In the morning, we observe the ocean. We choose the perfect spot and head out to surf.
The rest of the time? We share, we slow down, we enjoy. You come to surf, you leave with so much more.

The surf school
Surtain is first and foremost a surf school, designed as a welcoming space where you can hang out before and after your sessions.
This is where you come to get information about your stay, plan your outings, and share moments in harmony with the ocean.
A chill-out area awaits you with a sofa and screen, designed to slow down and analyze your sessions with Ben. Videos become a real tool for improvement: you observe, you understand, you adjust.
The space also houses a small shop, featuring carefully selected equipment and items: surf accessories, sweatshirts, t-shirts, and locally made creations. Simple pieces, chosen to reflect the spirit of the place.
Every day, we travel to the surf spots by van with Ben, depending on the conditions. We don’t follow a fixed schedule: we follow the ocean, to find the best waves at the right time.
The Surf House
Just 5 minutes from the beach, shops, bars, and restaurants, the Surf House welcomes you to a warm and inviting living space designed for the ultimate surfing experience. The house can accommodate up to 8 people in 3 spacious and comfortable bedrooms, configured as doubles or shared rooms depending on the stay.
Here, everything is designed to simplify your stay: just unpack your gear and start surfing.

The Guest House
Located just a 5-minute walk from the beach, the Guest House is an intimate and welcoming place, designed for a truly relaxing stay.
All on one level, it can accommodate up to 4 people. It comprises a comfortable bedroom, a welcoming living area with a sofa bed, and a fully equipped kitchen, all tastefully decorated in a simple and soothing atmosphere.
More than just accommodation, it’s a place to unwind, ideal for slowing down and enjoying the seaside.
The Guest House is perfect for families, couples, or groups of friends seeking peace, comfort, and proximity to the ocean for a truly independent holiday.
A family adventure
Ben, a surf instructor for over 20 years, has taught surfing to a wide range of people, from beginners to competitors. He’ll be delighted to share his in-depth knowledge of the sport and the marine environment with you.
Elise, who trained as an instructor, grew up in a family surfing environment. Attentive to everyone’s needs, she’ll be on hand to meet your expectations as closely as possible and give you a warm welcome.
Surtain Surf is first and foremost a family adventure for us, and you’re bound to run into our children, Lily & Milo.
